In response to two of my privious posts, my friend Jesper wrote to me: "Well, theres a new wave of old. Denmark and Scandinavia reformed the school system in the 60s and 70s - from what was called the Black School to a more lose kinda school. This meant that the kids no longer were supposed to learn things by heart but rather rationalize and asess the material themselves. A different pedagogy, which also meant that teachers no longer were allowed to hit, and the kids no longer should stand up in classroom and say Mam and Mr.Recent years the abilities of Danish kids have reached a low compared to other countries (reading, math, nature-science). And the answer to solve this pseudo-problem? Disciplin! And as we all know concering people living in Ghettoes, we can take a step further - they dont qualify for real Danes anyway - and violate whatever rights we see fit."
Jesper goes on thus: "With regards to Menachem Begin as terrorist, its old news so to speak. But quite usefull. The Israelis, and espicially Begin, denied for a long time to negotiate with Arafat due to his status as terrorist. When the pre-Oslo talks started in Madrid 1991, Arafat was not at the table. And Begin started out by saying that he did not wish to talk directly to the Palestinian delegation, as he "did not negotiate with terrorists".One of the Palestinian delegates then pulled a poster, which he showed to the people at the meeting. The original the poster read that Begin was wanted for terrorism by the British Mandate in 1948.Begins face turned sour, as the Palestinian delegate replied: "We have to."
